Hi,
Almost all sites on the internet which use a name & password field are liable to be remembered by the browser (unless you specify not to). With PHP, it should be possible to generate a different field name for every checkin to prevent this happening. I know you can tell the browser NOT to remember passwords, but this method would simply prevent any accidents. I always think that the user is the weakest link in security, so this would be a simple solution.
Any thoughts on this idea?

You can disable IE autocomplete functionality for any specific form component (like input element) or for all form.

http://www.jguru.com/faq/viewquestion.jsp?EID=937327

Code:

<form name="xyz" action="/xyz.do" method="post">
  <input name="mypass" type="password" autocomplete="false" />
  ...
</form>

<form name="xyz" action="/xyz.do" method="post" autocomplete="false">
...
</form>

I was not aware of this form action. Thanks for the information. Does this ensure that the browser doesn't cache it? I mean, do I have to check non-caching for all browsers & platforms or is it written in stone 'thou shalst not' with the autocomplete disabled?

I don't know, really! You can write some test html file within 1 minute and test it against IE, Firefox and Opera. And if you find out, then you can post results here Smile
