Would you like a Free website? Well we at Yahoo! Hates You! can offer you your own personal place on the web. For no money at all. Through our Geoshities service even a moron like you can create your own website using our powerful page builder.

Invest just a month or two of hard work in creating a good website and we promise not to delete it for at least the same amount of time. This is not a promise.

In order to provide this service for free we may need to infect your website, until we delete it, with large intrusive adverts. The code used to display these adverts will also contain Javascript errors, so visitors to your site will think you are even more of a moron than you are already. Enjoy!

That is what I did. About resource usage my system isn?t very affected (but im little short of ram, only 128mb), y can use KDE, listen music, chat, browse, etc with not problems.
The problem is bandwith, in some hours I get really lagged and somethimes I have to shutdown the server for about half an hour...
maybe 256k aren?t enough, but in general works fine.
Once you created a home server you don?t want to use hostings anymore Very Happy

Yep, bandwith is most bad thing in home-based hosting. I have connection through ADSL with downstream 1MBit/sec and upstream 256 KBit/sec and thats not enough for active website, i think.

Yes, the bandwith is a problem, but It can be in part solved using a separated computer running only as server. You can use your old computers like me.
Now I have a 800Mhz with SuSE 9.1 Pro running (with Apache+Kerio Mailserver+proftpd), runs very well and its powerfull, but previously I had a 233Mhz with Windows2000 Server (with Apacheand I was very well also!
So you can see that using an exclusive old computers as server is a good idea. I recommend you to use a mininal linux distribution.

Yes, maybe in Urugay is very expensive. I don't know! Confused
In Spain we got the most expensive ADSL connections of Europe.
I've got a 1024/320 ADSL connection and I pay about 35 Euros (32 US Dollars?) each month. But when I had a 512/128 connection my server work fine also.

What you have in Uruguay?

US Dollars?????? Shocked
That's VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!
That was the prices we got in Spain two years ago, when "Telefonica" was the only telephone company that had adsl services.

Download zPanel from http://www.thezpanel.com or Plesk 7.5 if you wish to offer cool as hosting to your friends and associates. Even zPanel if it is a little dodgy. Its still free.
