I'm a long time creeper, first time poster. This being my first post I would like to say hey to all the forum users and to the mighty administration I bow to you.
I am starting my BSIT this Fall and I want to teach myself a programming language.
Which, in your opinion, should be the first one I learn? I've messed around a little with Perl but I need to know if i'm just wasting my time learning this language or not. If so which do you suggest? |

First: welcome to Waraxe.
Basically there are different types of programming languages and syntaxes. For example, there is C and different descendants (C++, in a way also Java) and Basic and it's descendants (Visual Basic, VB.NET etc.)
So it is also a question, which type (or dialect) you want to learn. If you start your BSIT this fall, it is probably a good idea, to take a look which programming languages you will learn there and start learning it before, so that you are able to tighten your skills. |

That is a very good idea. Sometimes you wonder how the obvious things escape your notice like that.... lol. Thanks |
