#### De-compiling and dis-assembling ####!!!!!

Ok decided last week to get my act together and start learning C and then C++ I got quite far into a book I grabbed from the local library when a very smart friend of mine decided to tell me about Assembly. So now Im learning assembly. What I have got here though is some really cool stuff.

Have you ever wanted to veiw the source code of a cool program you have? But the program isnt open-source? If thats a yes then it may be possible for you.

Ever heard of gcc?
Well take a look at dcc. lol Yip its a de-compiler. First it dis-assembles an executable file then converts the assembly code into C. Its not perfect but it can be very handy.

Code:

If you have already mastered Assembly or would very much like to, read the tutorial in the Assembly forum by icenix

Code:
http://www.waraxe.us/ftopict-131.html

and then download emu8086 for windows:

Code:
http://emu8086.com/

This emulator emulates an i80x86 lol very old but it makes portability to the lastest intel cpus not needed. The latest CPUs are all backwards compatible.
It includes an Assembly - dis-assembly program, an assembler, a program like Vim for editing .asm (assembly files) and a CPU emulator.
Also there are handy tutorials and programs on their Yahoo group site, the link to which is on the main site.

Hope this helps C, C++, Ada, , Pascal, Modula-2 and other programmers see that there is more to life then HLLs.
Smile
