It just goes to the homepage & follows all links. Holes might appear that give insights into possible interesting areas... I have using in some cases WebScarab: http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_WebScarab_Project ... but it's Java-based and this is not my favourite platform. By the way, there can be possible to do passive spidering - using Google/Yahoo/Msn indexes. In this way webserver logs will show nothing, still you can get some picture about website directory structure. Hmm, I was thinking about writing kind of spider myself, something as Win/GUI tool, easy to use, written in VC++ 8.0 Let's see ...
