Coule of questions regarding VB

So basically i have become fascinated in the way passwords are encrypted, hashed or whatever nad have challenged myself to learn more. After some time on google i found that this website since to hold most knowledge on the subject, so figured why not join.

Anyway, my main interest is VB, i have realized that hashes in this area are salted, and in order to crack the password, you need both the salt and the hash. My question is how do you find the salt?

Take for example, this which i have acquired from a database

I have highlighted what i presume is the hash, but how on earth would i find the salt from that?

The salt is zg]

Its usually a 3 character combo towards the end of the line of code...

Alright thanks guys, i thought that would be it but just wanted to make sure. Anyway would the best tool to use for these be 'pasword pro'?
