Yes you can by using any of this function:
http://php.net/manual/en/function.file-get-contents.php
http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.fread.php

Depending on situation, file_get_contents() can be faster because it's a single call to read the file. But it can also be slower - because it reads the entire file into memory at one time (consider the situation where the file is big) whereas fread() only gets small amounts of data at a time.

ah sweet thanks. the file size of the file i'll be getting won't be big, so that won't be a problem. i'll read up on this and see if i can comprehend it. if i can't well then i hope it won't bother you to answer another simple question or two.

but thanks! i appreciate it. Smile
