With Fedora Core 3 I have to turn off PCI because it hangs on start up because of my sound in my laptop. (Gateway 3300 which is basically a cheap Toshiba) I tried Ubuntu but its not really apealing to me. All 2.4.x kernels work with my laptop fine but the 2.6.x kernel is what you would call "still under construction" it seems to me that it has not yet got the ;aptop driver support that 2.4.x has got. After updating the kernel the sound worked.
