Have you tried some better disassembler?
Like IDA for example:

http://www.datarescue.com/idabase/idadownfreeware.htm

And in case of serial cracking you may need realtime debugger, so that you can see how code works and also it's possible to manipulate registers and memory in realtime in order to understand work logic.
