Hi

Question: How do I block packets generated by nmap command "nmap -sU IPAddressHere -p porthere"? Keep in mind that I can't block all UDP or all traffic to that port since it's a udp server.

More info: well this is a game server....and some retard keeps crashing it using that nmap command. the game company doesn't give a rat's ass about it. I want to keep my server up..please help ,e Very Happy How do i block those packets by using a third-part software (eg. a firewall)?

To examine certain packet by your computer by the time the packest passes to/from your PC (or server), you can use the built-in security policy.

Go to the Administrative Tools ==> Local Security Policy !

In this location you can block ICMP, IP & ... packets and you can include Keys to program the "Local Security Policy" section to what to do !

Just a little mind needed ! Smile

Yea firewall is a good way of protecting your gameserver, but hardware only real good.. I have also had problems with people crashing my games, although that were done a different way I think.. they sendt huge masses of UDP packets on games query port causing crash, that were fixed with a rule in Snort. Also ipsec yea if you can deny all of those packets you want left out. Its alot of things you could use.. Snort is really nice cross platform software which maybe work for you..
