i need to get the pw to my computer back to normal, bacuase my term paper is on it.

"pw to my computer" -> this probably is an NT hash, not md5 Smile NT hashes are hashes of the windows logon system.

i was told by anothe ruser that this was indeed an md5 hash, so i dont really know what i should do with this Confused

I'm sure it's not an md5. You'll have to wait till someone with decent rainbow tables or something cracks this (I don't have any at the moment).

so a NT hash has the same char ammount of a MD5? I thought NT was longer and with a user name located in the SAM file :\ I could be wrong though..

Well the basic structure of a SAM line is:

Administrator:500:80355d4f1d53415d12d5fed72c065141:135ada5b2abcaea610f80fb30083b6ee:::

Which is

Username:RID:LM:NT:::

Both LM and NT hashes are 32 characters Wink
