I have a laptop with a intel 5100 wireless card. It is not showing up in backtrack 3 live cd. I am new to Linux and would like to know what steps I should take to make it recognize my card.
Thank you

Are you able to connect to a network using your wireless card? I'll say now that Linux wireless support is.... lacking. I hedge my bets on you have one of the 80% or so of cards that just won't work in Linux.

no. It does not recognize my wireless card at all. I appreciate your response. I have been doing some googling and reading forums. it appears that i have to download some modified drivers and replace them in my kernel. however: i do not know how to do that. i can provide links if you would like.

thanks!
